LAWPRO Small Grants and Events Scheme 2024
This grants scheme is for community groups to apply for small scale initiatives and events outside of LAWPRO's targeted open calls. It covers events such as World Wetland Day, Biodiversity Week, Heritage Week, Science Week, etc. It may also be used for small awareness raising initiatives such as surveys and plans, citizen science, hosting a meeting, litter pick, publications, biodiversity signage, or other such small scale initiatives.
Events:
If you are planning a water/biodiversity related event, you are invited by the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) to submit your ideas for funding. Events can be hosted at anytime throughout the year.

- Please document your event or initiative through photographs and short video clips.
- A short post event report may be required, be sure to document photographs and outcomes such as number of people in attendance at event, etc.

Heritage Week 2024: WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICAITONS FOR HERITAGE WEEK 2024 - DEADLINE WAS 16/07/24
Heritage Week 2024 takes place 17th - 25th August 2024 with national Water Heritage Day happening on Sunday, 25th August. This year the theme of Heritage Week is "Connections, Routes and Networks". It invites you to explore the links between people and communities, to look at what brings us together and what connects us. There are lots of resources and ideas about Heritage Week events on the Heritage Council website Home | National Heritage Week 17th – 25th August 2024.
You are especially invited to submit an application to LAWPRO to host an event during Heritage Week. Your event may be nominated for a Water Heritage Award 2024. Please use the social media Hashtags: #WaterHeritageDay #CelebrateWater #HeritageWeek2024#WaterHeritage

How to apply:
- Apply by completing the online form below.

Eligibility:
- This fund is open to not-for-profit Community and Voluntary groups in the Republic of Ireland only.
- Applicant group must have a bank account.
- Individuals may not apply.
- Applications must have a water quality or awareness focus.
- If this event is during Heritage Week, you must register your event on the Heritage Council website.
Funding available:
- Grants awarded will typically range from €50 to €400 towards the initiative. (In exceptional circumstances and on receipt of relevant quotations the maximum amount may be greater than €400 but in no cases will it exceed €2,500).
- Applications must demonstrate good value for money and proposed costs must be in keeping with the scheme.
Ineligible expenditure:
- Staff costs
- Teaching/staffing in schools
- Travel, fuel, and transport costs, except in exceptional circumstances
- Projects that solely benefit an individual
- Equipment, unless directly associated with the event
- Income generating initiatives
- Overheads and ongoing running costs
- Insurance
- Accommodation and subsistence
Assessment process:
- Each application will be assessed based on its merits as it is submitted.
- There is no obligation on LAWPRO to request any outstanding or supporting information.
- Funding will be allocated based on the recommendations of an assessment panel.
- There is no guarantee that applications will be funded.
- We will endeavour to have a good geographical spread of events/initiatives.
Allocation of grants:
- Successful applicants will be issued with a letter of offer and grant Terms & Conditions.
- A signed grant acceptance form must be completed and returned within the specified time outline in the letter of offer.
- Applicants may be required to submit a post event report, including proof of payments for all items, photographs and outcomes such as number of people in attendance at events, etc.
- Grants will be paid once approved your local Community Water Officer following the assessment process. Communities Team - Local Authority Water Programme (lawaters.ie)
- All receipts and expenditure must be maintained for a period of five years post event.
Other grant conditions:
- Where a grant is allocated to support a particular event or initiative, LAWPRO will not be responsible for the insurance of that event or initiative. Applicants must ensure that adequate insurance is in place.
- LAWPRO will not be responsible for any approvals, permissions, licences, or consents required. It is the applicant/organisers responsibility to ensure that these are in place.
- All relevant policies such as Child Protection Policy must be in place by the applicant.
