Objective of the Fund
The objective of the Community Water Development Fund is to support the delivery of Ireland’s commitments under the Water Framework Directive by enabling and promoting active community participation in catchment management. The fund is accessible to all community and voluntary groups with an interest in the promotion and protection of water quality. This includes the development of River Partnership networks including Rivers/Lakes Trusts and the implementation of practical on the ground water improvement measures. This will enable communities to take on a greater role in the management of their local water environments. The fund is administered by the Local Authority Waters and Communities Office on behalf of the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
